Mamta Devi’s Journey – A Dairy Hero from Bhilwara, Rajasthan

Empowered by Verdant Impact | Powered by Pure Breed Cattle

Mamta Devi, a simple homemaker from a small village in Bhilwara, Rajasthan, always dreamed of doing something on her own. Her husband was a small farmer, and their earnings were barely enough to feed the family. They had two cows, but the milk was just enough for home use.

In 2023, Mamta attended a training camp organized by Verdant Impact, where she learned about the benefits of keeping high-quality indigenous cattle like Gir and Sahiwal. She was amazed to know that with proper care and nutrition, cows could give 2–3 times more milk.

With support from Verdant’s rural women empowerment program, Mamta took a small loan and bought two Gir cows. She also received training on:

  • How to take care of cows and calves
  • How to grow green fodder at home
  • How to keep the cows healthy
  • How to sell milk at better prices

Within a few months, Mamta started selling milk in the local market and nearby towns. Her income grew from just ₹2,000 to ₹18,000 per month. She also learned how to make cow dung-based products like fuel bricks and organic compost, adding more income.

Today, Mamta leads a group of 20+ women dairy farmers in her village. They support each other, sell milk together, and earn a steady income. Mamta has become a true role model for rural women.

“Earlier I had no income of my own. Today, I run my own dairy business and help other women too. Thank you, Verdant Impact, for showing me the way.”Mamta Devi
